RESEARCH

Picture
TRAIT MACROEVOLUTION
I aim to understand the interaction between trait evolution and dynamics of diversification. For that purpose, I build new models of trait evolution, run simulations, and use large empirical datasets to perform macroevolutionary analyses of different traits.

FUTURE EXTINCTIONS
Global biodiversity is facing unprecedented changes and pressures. Identifying which species face the greatest risks is crucial for effective conservation planning. I use species distribution modelling and machine learning methods to estimate future extinction risk.

PAPUA NEW GUINEA SKINKS
Papua New Guinea is among the most biodiverse countries on earth, yet remains under-studied. Its herpetofauna in particular is poorly known.
I am interested in the phylogenetics and morphological evolution of Papua New Guinea's skinks, in particular the unique forms endemic to the island's towering mountain ranges.

SKINK CONSERVATION
As Regional Coordinator for Oceania and New Guinea of the IUCN SSC Skink Specialist Group, I am in charge of red list assessments and understanding the conservation needs of the ~300 species of skinks in the region.
